The Ladies of Gospel

The Ladies of Gospel have all been part of numerous Gospel Groups pver the years The Jubilee Singers, Chicago High Spirits, Mothers of Gospel and Gospel Times. They have decided to create this group bringing all the past experience of creating wonderful Spiritual music together in a new diverse project.

Why call it “The Ladies of Gospel”, our aim was to create a vocal group incorporating women who are elegant and stylish, who can praise in singing from the heart, learning from our great influences Mahalia Jackson and Shirley Caesar but also from the elegance and style the great songstresses of the jazz era; Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerlad and Dinah Washington, all true ladies of Song.

The repertoire spans from the classic spirituals going back to the earliest know African-American Gospel spiritual Song sung a cappella "Nobody Knows the trouble I've seen", to classic Gospel and workship hymns “Amazing Grace” and we have also included more contemporary Gospel songs such as “For Your glory”, “Jesus What a Wonderful Child” and some influences from soul music “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” and “Spirit in the Dark” sung by Aretha Franklin in Gospel version.

We touch on the spiritual and sacred, moving audiences to stop and behold the power of praise in song with four powerful voices blended to create this alchemy. We then move on to praising His name with songs that are more up tempo to get the crowd going, clapping their hands and rejoicing to create a true Gospel Show Experience, we have also included more contemporary songs all done in a Gospel Style (for instance "Taking it to the streets" and "Lean on Me")
